Australian travellers will pay more to depart the UK

Australian Families and travellers that are departing the UK could be hit with a huge increase in departure taxes.

Australian travellers to the UK will have to pay more than double the current airport depature taxes under a planned increase, a move airlines are warning could see carriers drop British airports from their routes.

The British government’s decision to double Air Passenger Duty (APD) – up to £84 (A$174) for long-haul flights – could lead to record numbers of routes from British airports being abandoned, a private aviation company claims.
