InterContinental Fiji Resort and Spa - Navo Resturant
Looking for the best family eating options and ways to save on the family holiday budget need not be difficult. With a little research and planning into your options as we discovered while on family holiday in Fiji with the kids, eating need not be expensive for families while staying at the InterContiental Fiji Resort and Spa.
One of the single biggest put-off for a family when holidaying is the added expense of dining at resorts, so when a resort offers children stay and eat free it becomes a very attractive option. Our recent stay at the Intercontinental Fiji resort and spa, we actually booked not based on any dining assumptions. We did not know of the option that Kids eat free, in fact when you look on their website there is no mention of the fact that kids eat free! Which would tell me that this offer might not last for ever, however with some many other Fijian resorts offering great kids packages for families I would not imagine that this offer will disappear quickly.
Options Available
So the kids were taken care of for eating, great! That left mum and dad with paying full price so what were our options for eating at 5 star resort in Fiji.
1. Starve, don’t eat anything great for those on the biggest looser
2. Only order one meal and share
3. Both Eat Breakfast and try and get through the rest of the day
4. Purchase Snack food from the resort mini store (best resort store by a mile)
5. Find a program that would allow us to save on dining and food expenses, Priority Privilege.
We actually resorted to purchasing a Priority Privilege membership which was accepted at the InterContinental Fiji Resort and Spa and saved us up to 50% off our food expenses. We purchase through this site, as it gave us 10% Off the membership price available to Little Nomads readers who sign up to our newsletter.
The real winner about this membership was that we were able to use the card at all the dining options available at the Intercontinental Resort, which ensured that our palates did not become bored or tired. The card was also available for use in their 5 star dining restaurant Navo which we would easily have been able to eat at every night, its an amazing setting! Which is another story about the baby sitting services at the resort.
InterContinental Dining options at the Fiji Resort and Spa
* Sanasana: All day dining
* Toba Bar & Grill: Poolside casual dining
* Navo: Elegant upscale dining, our signature restaurant
Our Findings on the Membership
So how much did we save by using the membership while staying at the resort. Our total food expenses while staying for two of us ( kids ate free) while on our family holiday in Fiji was approx $1280 Fijian Dollars, our membership provided us with a 50% discount, so our total food expenses was $640 FJD which is around $400 AUD. Which in effect means we were eating at a 5 star resort for around $40AUD per person a day, that is very good value for a resort.
So if you take the cost of the membership which was $260 AUD after discount, the purchase of the membership for use on our family holiday in Fiji at the InterContinental paid for itself easily in the discounts saved.
Conclusion
We would defiantly recommend purchasing this membership if you are going to be staying at the resort, plus there are heaps of other benefits like free night accommodation offers, $50 Credit Certificates. Plus you can use the membership at other IHG hotels and resorts in the Asia Pacific region.
So in conclusion a family holiday need not be a expensive one, if you do a little research and investigate the options that are available to you.
