The Balloon Spectacular will mark the start of the 2010 Canberra Festival today, where more than 50 events will take place in nine days, from Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 March.
“Watch as more than 30 balloons take off from the lawns of Old Parliament House each morning and enjoy a hot breakfast, followed by plenty of entertainment on the ground for the entire family,” Mr Kinsmore said.
“The Balloon Spectacular is a truly community focused event, with local charities, such as the Belconnen Lions Club benefiting from daily hot breakfast sales. Each morning local bands will provide entertainment while the balloons inflate and take off into Canberra’s early morning sky.”
Mr Kinsmore said Canberrans should make the most of the Balloon Spectacular and all the activities on offer on Monday 8 March – the Canberra Day public holiday.
Pedal Power’s Big Canberra Bike Ride will begin and end on the site, followed by Sport for Women Day activities, with a morning of fitness and fun, including a mass exercise class and a tug-of-war challenge with some of Canberra’s elite sportswomen.
