Eye spy with my little storio

Storio Reader Dora
Something beginning with S. Does this sound familiar on any of your road trips recently?

Family Holiday Entertainment

It can be challenging keeping our kids entertained on long road trips down the south coast to Broulee, weekend trips to Canberra or a long weekend to the central west of NSW. Most of the time we manage to try and have fun conversations with the kids between “I’m hungry” and “how far to go now”. So when we are not having those conversations, the kids will kick back watch a movie. However, when the movies have been exhausted the dreaded question comes flying from the back seat – “Dad can I borrow your phone”?

Often my answer is “No” as they have an uncanny ability to run the battery down in a minute or crack a screen!

So when we were provided the change to road test a Storio kids e -reader on a recent family holiday to the Blue Mountains (mum & dad) we were excited to try something a little different to entertain the kids other then our phones.

What is a Storio

So what is the Storio from vtech, well basically its a interactive e-reading system which allows your children to build and develop their reading and comprehensive skills. How it works, in our case with Olivia who is 4 she was able to listen to Dora being read out loud! Don’t panic there is a headphone slot where your child can use there own child friendly headphones so you don’t have to listen to “can you say Backpack”.

What is also neat is that words are highlighted as they are read aloud so our daughter was able to follow along. It aslo has some cool features which bring a story to life through animations, sound effects and phrases.

The product itself has a good sturdy feel to it and it has a flip cover to protect the device, which it needs when being handled between a 3 and 6 year old. Like any product that kids have today it will require 4 AA batteries, if you are clever you can run 9v adaptor off your car charger to power the device, perfect for road trips.

The Storio would also make a peferct addition for domestic and family holidays overseas, being so portable. The best thing is that this product is about education but doing it in a fun way. So I’m looking forward to my next flight with my kindle loaded with my books and my daughters Storio being loaded with her favourite books.

I would think the Storio would be perfect for any parent who is keen on finding a product for their child that allows them to have fun but also serve as educational toy at the same time.

So how would you like to win one?
