Kudos to the Kiwis – Airline of the Year

As far as the tourism industry is concerned, the kiwis do a bloody good job. In all respects really. It starts with great service and extra leg room on the Air New Zealand flight here. Even the flight safety video is entertaining, narrated as it is by a naked (bar body paint) crew. Instead of the usual bored looking plane-load of passengers pretending to pay attention, everyone’s giggling. I think there was even applause.

And while we’re on the subject, the seat back entertainment system offers a great range of tv shows and movies (including, curiously, a netball channel). As well as entertainment, the food’s not bad and the economy seats are very possibly the comfiest I’ve ever flown on.

So for a change I arrive at my destination not absolutely desperate to get off the plane as soon as the seatbelt light goes off. No wonder they won Airline of the Year.
