Things to consider about travelling to the US during in June and July that its Summer Season in the USA, and typically prices will be higher during this period. However, with the global economic pressures upon the travel industry as a whole Airlines and Hotels are really starting to throw everything they can to ensure that there is demand for their products now and into the rest of the year.

With Virgin now competing on the US route from Australia to the US Australians travellers should be able to really score some great deals. Airlines on this route will be doing anything to ensure they don’t loose their market share now.

I have seen some great travel packages recently advertised through Flight Centre to the US including Accommodation and Flights from $1500 per person, however this type of lead in prices are for set periods. If your daughter is flexible with her travel plans, she may be able to secure a great lead in price.

Another option is to talk to your local travel agent about re routing flights, i.e. flights though New Zealand, Hawaii and Singapore. Flying to Hawaii you often get a low cost return airfare, currently I noted a $696 return fare for period your daughter is looking at. From Hawaii you then pick up cheaper domestic flight try http://www.travelocity.com

My recommendation would be to jump on a site like wego.com or webjet to compare prices, and use a travel agent if the booking is to get more complicated. Flight Centre will charge a booking fee on top of the price, and when you add up your time and energy this fee is sometime well worth it, taking away the hassle factor.

The trick is do you hold off an wait for a better deal or do you purchase now and hope that the price does not increase – Vayama Travel http://www.vayama.com is great online tool for tracking airfares and will alert you when the price falls..

Let us know how they get on, we are currently investigating the same option in the other direction with 2 children same time period.
