Somerset on Elizabeth perfect for families

Family Hotel Melbourne

Somerset on Elizabeth offers families stylish self-contained resident accommodation with direct and easy access to the city’s commercial and entertainment facilities right in the middle of Melbourne CBD. We found this apartment set up perfect for our short overnight needs for a family of four.

Checkin:
Our check in process was quick and easy and with no hassles. We managed to get a park for our Avis car rental out the front on Elizabeth street where we handed the keys to reception on arrival who arranged a valet park service for us, it actually worked out cheaper then parking ourselves! We were 2 hours ahead of the official checkin time, however this did not present a problem. Lobby area was clean and welcoming.

The Room:
We allocated a 1 bedroom apartment on the 9 floor (911) on first appearance the room was clean and fresh. The open planned living room had amble room for 2 kids to spread out, while Mum and Dad had room to spread out in the main bedroom.

In Room Facilities:
The room came with 2 large flat screen TVs (Main Room, Bedroom), the room was tasteful and practical in its furnishings. The Kitchenette was clean and was well equipped, and the fridge was clean and was of good size if you would want to stock it. The Bathroom space was large and had large wall mirror, head dryers were good condition, bath and shower were combined, and the washing machine was also available.

  • King Bed was comfortable, cot was provided for 19 month year old while we arranged for our 4 year old to sleep on the sofa.
  • Room temp a little cool, but was sorted out with one phone call to reception.
  • No block out curtains in the main living room, which meant the kids were awake at 7am!

Other Facilities:
Leisure facilities were available on the four floor which include a fully equipped gym (well spaced out good working equipment), sauna, Jacuzzi and barbecue area (Heaps of space for kids to kick a soccer ball or football around). Somerset on Elizabeth is a short stroll from Myer, David Jones, GPO, Melbourne Central, Bourke Street Mall and DFO. Less than 1 kilometre away, you will find Chinatown and Queen Victoria Market.
